The PGA Tour’s prestigious THE PLAYERS Championship (TPC) has been played at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, part of greater Jacksonville, for 44 consecutive editions since relocating there in 1982.

Jacksonville-area teams have won a combined 26 major championships, including 22 FHSAA high-school state football titles (third-most of any Florida county) and 4 indoor-league crowns by the Jacksonville Sharks (1 ArenaBowl in 2011; 3 National Arena League titles).

The 48th annual Gate River Run in March 2025 drew 15,563 participants, making it Northeast Florida’s largest single-day road race.
